Knockvale

Knockvale is a farm and farmhouse in Katesbridge in County Down, N.Ireland, that is owned by the Martin family. Ivan Martin sought to bring together people who were looking for employment, while at the same time regenerating the farm and farmhouse. Our enthusiastic team forms a fun working community at a time of recession. Neil Mcconville, Graham Jennings Ian Ferguson and John Brannigan have all benefitted from employment at Knockvale.

A special dream was to use aspects of the farm to help, in a holistic way, those who suffer  from troubles of anxiety, stress, depression, alcoholism, and drug addiction, through engaging in creative projects on the farm. These projects include growing vegetables in an orchard, looking after free range hens, restoring antique farm implements, and making farm cheese and bread.  In January 2012 a mission team of 9 men from Jacksonville, Florida, U.S.A, generously gave their time, talents and prayer, to develop a garden, cheese and bread making kitchen and a deluxe hen house. The vision is for latent skills within people to be expressed in growing their own vegetables, making bread and cheese, looking after hens and enjoying organic free range eggs.

The MCT aims to build upon the successes won at Knockvale, and to further use the skills and relationships gained in additional projects.
